(Yicai Global) Feb. 15 -- Freestyle skier Eileen Gu secured her second medal for Team China in the Beijing Winter Olympic Games today, claiming silver in the women’s slopestyle in a dramatic final that saw her fall in the second run.
18-year-old Gu, who was born in California but has competed for China since 2019, has become the superstar of this year’s winter games. She won gold in the women’s freeski big air final on Feb. 7 to the delight of her legions of fans.
Gu performs a death-defying leap as she takes part in the final, nailing a score of 86.23 behind Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud who scored 86.56.
Gu, who is the face of French cosmetics giant Estee Lauder, US luxury carmaker Cadillac and US jewelry designer Tiffany & Co. to name just a few, skids to a halt.
Gu performs a solid first run with a score of 69.90.
