(Yicai) Nov. 20 -- Sinoma International Engineering, China's largest provider of cement engineering services, has secured a USD351.5 million engineering procurement contract to build a solar power plant in Iraq.

Sinoma's subsidiary Suzhou Sinoma Construction signed a turnkey contract with Mass Iraq Renewable Energy Production to design, build, equip, carry out debugging, a 1,000-megawatt photovoltaic power plant in Al-Kut, the Beijing-based parent company announced yesterday.

The plant's construction is expected to last no less than 21 months, Sinoma noted, without revealing any further details.

Sinoma's shares [SHA: 600970] were trading up 0.2 percent at CNY10.62 (USD1.47) as of 2.00 p.m. today, after earlier gaining 1.6 percent.

In May, Suzhou Sinoma said on its website that it had signed an EPC contract with Mass Iraq Renewable Energy for a 300 MW solar power station. In the statement, Suzhou Sinoma noted that it had been a partner of Mass Iraq Renewable Energy, as the pair successfully cooperated on cement and power projects.

Suzhou Sinoma has been involved in several engineering contracts in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, including four cement factories and one power plant in Iraq.
