China’s JPT Jumps on USD163 Million Order Haul From North American Fiber-Optic Client China’s JPT Jumps on USD163 Million Order Haul From North American Fiber-Optic Client

(Yicai) Oct. 13 -- Shares in JPT Opto-Electronics surged as much as 7.1 percent today after the Chinese fiber-optic component supplier said it has secured around USD163 million in component orders from a North American fiber-optic connectivity solutions provider since the start of the year.

JPT’s share price [SHA: 688025] closed up 4.8 percent at CNY387 (USD58). Earlier in the day it hit CNY395.55.

JPT will supply the North American client, also known as Client V, with fiber-optic connectivity products, including fiber-optic jumpers fitted with Multi-fiber Push Ons or Miniature Multifibre Connectors and shuffle boxes, the Shenzhen-based company said yesterday.

The orders were driven by strong demand for high-speed optical interconnect devices from artificial intelligence data centers, it added. No further details, including order volumes, delivery schedules and the customer’s identity, were provided.

Client V is the company’s largest customer in the fiber-optic device business, JPT said at the end of last month in response to a regulatory inquiry. The client’s procurement volume rose significantly in 2025, generating CNY134 million (USD20 million) in revenue for JPT that year. In the first half, revenue from the customer rose to CNY397 million (USD59.3 million), accounting for 26.6 percent of JPT’s total revenue for the period.

To better meet robust demand for high-speed optical interconnect devices from the data center market, JPT said in the middle of August that it will invest CNY861 million (USD128.6 million) to expand its existing production facilities in Huizhou, southern Guangdong province and to build an additional production base in the same city.

Fiber-optic connectors enable plug-and-play connections between segments of fiber-optic links. High-density fiber optic connectors such as MPOs and MMCs are mainly used in AI computing clusters and ultra large data centers where they support high-speed optical connections between graphics processing unit servers and high-speed switches.

When combined with shuffle boxes, these systems enable large-scale interconnection of computing resources. Fiber-optic connectors are also used in telecommunications backbone networks, fiber-to-the-home infrastructure, campus networks and industrial inspection applications.
