Airshow China to Showcase Sea-Based Rocket Net Recovery System for First Time(Yicai) Oct. 14 -- The 16th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition will host the first public display of China’s sea-based net recovery system for carrier rockets, along with the country’s latest achievements in aviation, aerospace, and defense technologies.
China Aerospace Science and Technology will debut its CZ-10B sea-based rocket net recovery system at Airshow China this year, spokesperson Hao Changfeng announced at a press conference hosted by the event’s organizing committee yesterday.
Airshow China is a biennial international aerospace trade expo held at the Zhuhai International Airshow Center in China’s southern Guangdong province. This year’s edition will run from Dec. 7 to 13.
CASC will also display multiple launch vehicles, including the CZ-10B, the CZ-12B, and the CZ-9B, which will also make its debut at Airshow China, as well as a 1:1 high-fidelity replica of a heavy-lift launch vehicle’s first-stage engine, said Hao, who also leads the company’s corporate culture department.
CZ-10B and its sea-based net recovery system successfully completed the world’s first sea-based net capture and recovery of a launch vehicle first stage in July.
CASC will bring to Airshow China more than 370 other products spanning complete systems, airborne equipment, technology, and manufacturing under the themes of accessing space, utilizing space, exploring space, integrated air-space-ground defense, and the low-altitude economy. The number is an increase of over 30 percent from the previous edition, showcasing the strength and innovative vitality of China’s aerospace industry.
The exploring space theme will highlight China’s latest achievements and future plans in asteroid exploration, including the first public display of the Tianwen-2 primary asteroid probe and reentry capsule in their true configuration, reproduced with high precision at a 1:1 scale, Hao noted.
China successfully launched Tianwen-2 in May last year. It has now reached the vicinity of its target asteroid 2016HO3 and is scheduled to return to Earth through the reentry capsule at the end of next year, after completing its sampling mission.
