China yesterday released the first update to the new national essential drug list, a guide for medical institutions' procurement and prescribing, since its release eight years ago, according to the National Health Commission. The 794 medicines on the new list are estimated to account for 71% of the total volume of drugs used by the country's public medical institutions.
