(Yicai) Sept. 23 --  What does it take to build and fly a drone at the world’s biggest skills competition? As one of seven new skills at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, the Unmanned Aerial Systems category combines drone engineering, mechanical maintenance, and smart navigation. UAS technicians must build, test, and maintain drones while mastering aerodynamics, flight control, communications, robotics, software, and regulatory compliance. On the first day of competition, we got to see Chinese UAS technician Zeng Chen assemble and fly his drone.
