(Yicai Global) Aug. 31 -- Smart shelf operator Fanqie Bianli, run by Shanghai Xiaojia Network Technology Co., has secured tens of millions of yuan through its A-round funding led by International Data Group Inc. and seconded by Innovation Angel Funds, online news outlet Jiemian reported.

Fanqie Bianli's smart shelves are often used in offices, subway stations and shopping malls, the report added. It sells high-margin foods that are eaten often, such as fresh food, fruits, dairy products, drinks and snacks, much like convenience stores.

The firm will use the funds to speed up its business plans and facilitate research to create a new generation of smart shelves using video identification, pressure sensors and radio-frequency identification, founder Yin Zhihua said.
