Hong Kong Shanghai TV Week Opens(Yicai) April 29 -- The Hong Kong Shanghai TV Week, co-organized by Radio Television Hong Kong and Shanghai Media Group, has started, aiming to deepen the cultural cooperation between the two cities.
Some of SMG's cultural programs will be aired on RTHK Channel 31 during TV Week, which kicked off on April 27. These include 'China Before China,' 'Next Station,' which showcases Shanghai's culture, and the second season of 'Treasures in Shanghai Museum.'
SMG and RTHK signed a deal to ally and tell the stories of China, Hong Kong, and Shanghai at the sixth session of the Hong Kong/Shanghai Cooperation Conference held on April 26.
The hope is that the programs selected for TV Week can deepen mutual understanding and integration of Shanghai and Hong Kong citizens, noted Song Jiongming, director of SMG.
SMG and RTHK have also co-produced 'Two Cities Meet,' a program focusing on the lives of people from Shanghai and Hong Kong living in the opposite city.
RTHK has been committed to strengthening cooperation with institutions on the Chinese mainland to introduce Chinese culture to the world, said Eddie Cheung, director of broadcasting of Hong Kong and head of RTHK. The tie-up symbolizes the determination of the media agencies in the two cities to be closer, he added.
'China Before China,' which took three years to be made, explores the development of Chinese civilization from the perspective of archaeology and includes the re-enactment of some historical events.
