Didi’s Apps Resume Working After Nationwide Crash Didi’s Apps Resume Working After Nationwide Crash

(Yicai) Nov. 28 -- Apps under Didi Chuxing Technology are working normally after a system failure seemingly affected all services provided by the Chinese company.

Early today, Didi apologized on China’s microblogging platform Weibo for the inconvenience and said that the ride-hailing service had resumed and the bike-sharing one was recovering.

Yesterday evening, Didi customers were not able to book rides, drivers could not receive orders, and passengers were unable to pay for their trips due to a system failure, the Beijing-based company noted, adding that the bike-sharing service also had problems, such as in returning bikes.

Didi’s electric vehicle battery charging business Xiaouju Charging and refueling service platform Didi Jiayou also experienced problems last night, Yicai noticed.

Didi achieved record revenue of CNY51.4 billion (USD7.2 billion) in the third quarter of the year, up 25 percent from a year earlier, according to the firm’s latest financial report. Revenue from its ride-hailing business in China grew 27 percent to CNY46.6 billion in the period, while its international ride-hailing business achieved revenue of CNY2 billion (USD279.6 million), up 28 percent.

Orders on Didi’s core ride-hailing platform soared 34 percent to nearly 3.6 billion in the three months ended Sept. 30 from the same period last year. Of them, almost 2.9 billion were in China, up 32 percent, while the remaining 700 million were overseas, up 43 percent.
