Bayer to Feature Nearly 30 Innovative Product Debuts at Its Ninth CIIE(Yicai) Nov. 5 -- Bayer has brought nearly 30 innovations across pharmaceuticals, consumer health, and crop science to debut at this year’s China International Import Expo in Shanghai. The German life science giant has participated in all nine editions so far.
“For Bayer, the CIIE is more than an exhibition,” said Bill Anderson, chairman of board of management of Bayer AG. “It is where people come together to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and turn innovation into real-world impact.”
Faced with shared global pressures of healthcare for aging populations and sustainable food production, no single company or nation can deliver solutions alone, Anderson noted. Guided by its long-standing mission ‘Health for All, Hunger for None,’ Bayer looks forward to pairing local Chinese expertise with its global research and development footprint to build a healthier, more resilient future.
Next year marks Bayer’s 145th anniversary in China, a milestone Anderson highlighted as a testament to the firm’s enduring partnership with the country.
Bayer has two booths at this year’s CIIE, covering the medical and agricultural sectors. Eight pharmaceutical and radiology innovations will make their CIIE debut, headlined by two newly approved therapies -- Sunharbo (asundexian), the world’s first-in-class FXIa inhibitor for stroke risk reduction, and Hyrnuo (sevabertinib), a targeted therapy approved for the full treatment spectrum of HER2-mutant non-small cell lung cancer.
Other highlighted assets include expanded indications for Kerendia and Nubeqa, as well as new imaging contrast agent and a locally manufactured contrast injection system.
Seven global debuts under the ‘Consumer Health’ division target Chinese consumers’ evolving self-care needs. They include a teen-focused selenium sulfide anti-dandruff shampoo, Bepanthen baby skincare lines, and a suite of Elevit and One A Day nutritional products covering scalp, skin health and health management across different life stages and everyday scenarios.
Bayer’s Crop Science division will showcase eight China debuts and six CIIE premieres, featuring biostimulants, seed treatment products, new Dekalb corn hybrids, and Seminis vegetable varieties tailored for major Chinese growing regions. It has also rolled out agronomic training hubs and e-commerce channels to extend technical support to domestic growers.
During the first eight CIIE editions, Bayer unveiled 69 debut exhibits, hosted 139 online and offline events, signed 50 cooperation agreements, and secured regulatory launch for 17 so-called ‘CIIE babies’ -- products premiered at the expo and later approved for the Chinese market.
Beyond product showcases, Bayer will host multiple partnership signings, research dialogues, and launch ceremonies during this year's CIIE. The company sees the CIIE as a platform to accelerate global breakthroughs into China and bring practices shaped by China’s needs, local insights, and partnership models to a broader stage, creating a two-way flow of innovation.
Bayer plans to keep expanding local collaboration, moving more innovations from the exhibition floor to commercial access across healthcare and agriculture.
