(Yicai Global) Dec. 1 -- Xpeng shipped more than four times as many cars in November than it did a year ago as the Chinese electric vehicle startup cranks up mass production.

Xpeng sold 4,224 cars last month, the Guangzhou-based firm said on its WeChat account today. This included 2,732 P7 smart sedans and 1,492 G3 sport utility vehicles.

In the 11 months to yesterday, sales jumped 87 percent to 21,341 from a year earlier. Just over half were P7s that only started rolling off the assembly line in June.
