(Yicai) May 26 -- Guangdong, China's largest manufacturing province, has been actively seeking highly skilled fresh graduates, mainly in the electromechanical and mechanical fields, to meet its strong demand for talent.

Some 120 high-quality companies, including home appliance giant Midea Group, electric vehicle startup Xpeng Motors, and automotive glass supplier Fuyao Glass Industry Group, participated in a job fair organized by Guangzhou Electromechanical Technical College on May 23, offering 6,000 positions, including 1,600 for graduates from the class of 2026.

In February, Guangdong unveiled a plan to attract one million college graduates to work and start businesses in the province and implemented a series of recruitment efforts targeting talents in the manufacturing sector.

Firms attending a specialized recruitment event for the manufacturing sector on May 10 offered 5,560 job positions. About 1,600 of them were provided by more than 250 high-quality companies from advanced manufacturing fields, such as new-generation electronic information, advanced materials, smart home appliances, light industry and textiles, biomedicine, and new energy vehicles.

Guangdong Machinery Technician College has partnered with 78 high-quality companies to hold specialized job fairs, Ma Qingtao, director of the school's admissions and employment guidance center, told Yicai, adding that it will hold two large-scale recruitment fairs, offering a total of 10,713 jobs on May 27 and 28.

"To retain talents and enable them to realize their full potential, it is essential to offer competitive salaries," Peng Peng, executive president of the Guangdong branch of the China Society of Economic Reform, told Yicai. "To maintain the competitiveness of the Pearl River Delta region, it is necessary to create employment, entrepreneurial opportunities, and space for wealth generation."

Students specialized in industrial robotics, automation, mechatronics, multi-axis computer numerical control machining, mold-making, and precision assembly usually receive four to five offers, or even more, during job fairs, Xie Ke, director of the GETC's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center, told Yicai.

Such students' internship monthly salaries range from CNY5,000 to CNY9,000 (USD696 to USD1,253), while those of full-time positions span from CNY6,000 to CNY12,000 (USD835 to USD1,671), Xie noted.

There is a strong demand for graduates in engineering fields, particularly in mechanical industries, with the salaries offered to interns generally ranging from CNY4,000 to CNY5,000, Ma noted.
