(Yicai Global) Sept. 24 -- Chinese stock markets inched up this morning amid slow sentiments as risk-taking seemed to take a backseat ahead of the upcoming National Day holiday.

The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.08 percent to 2,979.48. The Shenzhen Component opened at 9783.39, up 0.02 percent. The ChiNext Price Index gained 0.05 percent to 1,685.12.

For the Chinese bourses, the National Day holiday means a break from Oct. 1 to Oct. 8.
