(Yicai Global) Dec. 6 -- AG600, a large-scale amphibious aircraft developed by China's state-owned aerospace and defense giant Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), has passed its maiden flight review and has met all technical conditions for its debut.

Five experts from Chinese Academy of Engineering and directors and experts from several departments participated in the review which took place in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong province, on Dec. 1-3. The experts who evaluated AG600 unanimously agreed that it meets all requirements for its maiden flight.

The AG600 project has been under development for nearly 10 years and the aircraft will play an important role in the emergency rescue, forest fire fighting and other fields in the future, said a senior official of the ministry of industry and information technology. The ministry will provide necessary support and help for the project, the official added.

AG600 has a maximum takeoff weight of 53.5 tons and a range of 4,500 kilometers, with maximum speed of up to 500 kilometers per hour. It is capable of rescuing as many as 50 people in distress at a time, public information shows.
