(Yicai) Sept. 12 -- Deepal Automobile Technology has lowered its annual sales target for this year, according to data disclosed by the chairman of the electric vehicle unit of Chinese car giant Changan Automobile.
Deepal aims to sell 360,000 units this year, Chairman Deng Chenghao said at the Deepal New Product Global Launch, Autumn 2025 on Sept. 8. To achieve this goal, he will have to join efforts with the firm's new President Jiang Hairong, he added.
Deepal initially set its 2025 global sales target at 500,000 units. However, in the first eight months of the year, the company only sold 198,600 units, with a monthly average of about 25,000. To reach sales of 360,000 units, it will have to sell 160,000 more cars this year, for an average of 40,000 a month.
"From the perspective of the current situation, we still have a good chance to achieve this target," Deng noted. Deepal will mainly rely on the S05 and S07, which are being sold globally, as well as the L06, which will launch in China in the fourth quarter, to reach its goal, Deng added.
The S07 is on sale in 70 countries. It was launched in Germany at the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung Mobility 2025, when the company also held the European release of the S05. The L06 has the potential to create new demand and become an important source of sales for the company, Deng pointed out.
In the next five years, Deepal plans to launch 30 new mainstream and differentiated car models. "On one hand, we need to achieve our sales targets, and on the other hand, we also want to create standout models and blockbuster hits," Deng said.
Deepal sold 243,894 vehicles last year, up 78 percent from the previous year, ranking among the top 10 EV brands globally by sales.
