(Yicai Global) Sept. 9 -- BYD revealed its Ocean X concept car yesterday, the second auto in the Chinese new energy vehicle maker’s Ocean series built using its ground-breaking e-platform 3.0 that extends cruising range, reduces charging times and enhances performance.
The e-platform 3.0, which debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, is critical for Shenzhen-based BYD’s shift to intelligence from electrification, founder, Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu said at the event in Shenzhen.
The Dolphin is already in production and hit the market last month with a starting price of CNY93,800 (USD14,500). With a cruising range of 1,000 kilometers, it boasts 10 percent less power consumption per 100 km than standards EVs and its cruising range lasts 10 percent longer in winter. The auto takes just 2.9 seconds to go from zero to speeds of 100 km an hour. And fast-charging tech means it can be powered to drive a range of 450 km in under five minutes.
All cars built on the platform are equipped with blade batteries, the safest battery available, and feature its fifth-generation wireless network-enabled in-car BYD operation system.
