Xiaomi skipped 16 and named its next flagship smartphone series Xiaomi 17 to rival the iPhone 17, Chairman Lei Jun said on Weibo. The Xiaomi 17 series will be released this month, one month earlier than the Xiaomi 15’s launch last year. Apple began accepting preorders for the iPhone 17 on Sept. 12 in China, with deliveries scheduled to start on Sept. 19.
