After a Chinese blogger accused Pehchaolin of using restricted ingredient Ipomoea purpurea extract in a cleanser product and reported the case to the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration, the city’s drug authorities decided to launch an investigation. In response, Pehchaolin said it did not add prohibited substances to its products and that its facial cleaners containing Ipomoea purpurea extract were produced before May 26, 2021, when the ingredient was banned for use in cosmetics.
