(Yicai) Dec. 5 -- Sustainable development concepts and projects from different countries, private companies and non-governmental organizations are on display in the Green Zone of the United Nations climate summit that is being held in Dubai this year.

Over 70,000 people from all over the world are gathering at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, also known as COP28, to discuss every aspect of climate change.

It is the second time that the climate summit is held in the Middle East and the first time in over a decade that it is hosted by a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.

In the extensive exhibition area, there is a blue zone for conferences and negotiations, and a green zone for COP28 for sustainable development solutions. Yicai paid a visit to the green zone on Dec. 3.

The word “act” can be seen everywhere in the zone. The slogan “Welcome to a world of actionism” is on show for people to see the moment they enter the venue.

Private companies and non-governmental organizations showcase their green concepts and accomplishments.

The “Saudi Green Initiative” pavilion stands next to the “UAE House of Sustainability.” Saudi Arabia plans to plant 10 billion trees to increase its forested area 12-fold.

Visitors wander through the China pavilion. Right before COP28 started, the Al Dhafra photovoltaic power plant in the UAE, which was built by a Chinese company, was put into operation. As the world’s largest single-site solar power plant, it can provide electricity to 200,000 households and reduce carbon emission by 2.4 million tons every year.

Many delegates and visitors to the expo choose to use green transport and can be seen alighting from the subway train at the Dubai Expo City station.
