(Yicai Global) Aug. 15 -- The bicycles that French luxury goods brand Hermès has been selling for CNY165,000 (USD24,400) each in Shanghai have all sold out.

The Odyssee Terre, a compact carrier bike, is also out of stock across the Chinese mainland, Hermès’ customer service department said on Aug. 13. More will be imported from France, but the exact time of delivery is unclear, it added.

The bicycles are made in France with ash, aluminum, and Spad leather, and have four-speed gears, according to the company’s website. ‘Hermès Paris’ is hot-stamped on the saddle.

Hermès recommends matching the bike with the CNY4,350 (USD645) Calvi duo card holder, CNY6,900 Oran sandals, and CNY12,350 (USD1,825) H-Tag phone case.

Despite the impact of Covid-19 on the global economy, luxury goods makers such as France’s Hermès, LVMH, and Kering, all improved their performances in the first half of the year.

Global consumption of luxury goods will jump 10 percent to 15 percent this year to between EUR320 billion and EUR330 billion (USD327.6 billion and USD338.1 billion), consultants Bain & Company said in a June market research report.
