(Yicai) Aug. 30 -- US electric car giant Tesla’s Beijing unit is recalling for the second time 870 Model X autos imported into China due to the potential hazard of roof trims falling off, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said today.
The latest recall involves 870 imported Model X electric cars that were produced between March 16 and July 31, 2016. The first such recall was in November 2020.
The adhesive used to attach the roof trims, which are the protruding edges of the roof that divert water and wind away, on some vehicles appears to be weakening over time. If they fall off while the driver is driving, it might cause an accident, the bureau said.
Tesla Motors Beijing will provide free vehicle inspections, including a pull test on the roof trim. For those vehicles that do not pass the test, the roof trim will be replaced.
