(Yicai) July 26 -- Shares of Power Construction Corporation of China inched up after the Chinese state-owned infrastructure contractor said it secured a USD755 million engineering, procurement, and construction deal for a 1.5-gigawatt photovoltaic power plant in the United Arab Emirates.

PowerChina’s shares [SHA: 601669] closed up 0.95 percent at CNY5.32 (73 US cents) in Shanghai today, after gaining as much as 1.9 percent earlier.

A consortium formed by PowerChina’s Abu Dhabi branch and its subsidiary PowerChina Huadong Engineering recently signed an EPC contract for the Al Ajban PV3 solar power plant with the project owner, PowerChina announced yesterday. The construction period is expected to be 28 months.

The consortium will be responsible for the design, construction, procurement, installation, commissioning, and trial operation of the PV power plant and its affiliated 400-kilowatt booster station, as well as for its operation and maintenance during the 24-month warranty period after the project is completed and put into operation, PowerChina noted.  

The Al Ajban PV3 solar power plant will be built in Al Ajban city in the Abu Dhabi Emirate, about 88 kilometers from downtown Abu Dhabi and neighboring Dubai.
