(Yicai) July 9 -- FedEx promoted Poh-Yian Koh, vice president of China operations, to lead one of the largest logistics companies in the world to expand its business in the world's second-largest economy.

Koh will replace Eddy Chan as senior VP and president of FedEx China, effective Aug. 1, the Memphis-based firm announced today. Chan will retire next month after nearly four decades of service.

"With over 30 years of experience across various functions at FedEx, Koh brings a wealth of expertise to her new role," said Kawal Preet, president of Asia Pacific at FedEx. “I am confident that under her leadership, our China business will soar to new heights, benefiting from her deep insights into the market and strategic vision.”

Koh relocated to China in 1994. She has been a director in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing. In her recent role, she strengthened ground and gateway operations, highlighting sustainability and innovation, while helping the company further explore the market, shape customs procedures, and expand its network and services, per the employer.

In her new position, Koh will drive business expansion and growth for FedEx in China, fostering stronger cooperation with government entities, customers, and partners. She will also optimize FedEx’s network and capacity in the country while accelerating digitalization to increase service efficiency.

Chan has overseen FedEx’s operations in China since 1998. During his tenure, FedEx has grown to conduct more than 300 international flights in China per week, operating in major cities across the country with nearly 11,000 team members.
