(Yicai Global) Feb. 2 -- Shares of China's Kaimeite Gases soared after the firm that has been making semiconductor gases just for three years said that a subsidiary of Dutch chip manufacturing machine giant ASML Holding has certified its products.

Kaimeite [SHE: 002549] jumped by the daily limit of 10 percent to CNY17.56 (USD2.60).

The industrial gas company's unit Yueyang Kaimeite Electronic Special Rare Gases received a qualified supplier certification letter from Cymer today, the Hunan province-based firm said in a statement today. 

The Chinese company’s gases can be used in Cymer’s deep ultraviolet laser system which is a key component of ASML’s powerful lithography machine used in semiconductor wafer production. The DUV laser-based machine is able to manufacture chips of 7nm and above.

The certification marks a technology breakthrough for Kaimeite and recognition from a renowned industry leader, and this should help improve its brand awareness in the international market, the company said. But it may not bring revenue or profits to the firm at present, as Cymer does not purchase such products directly from suppliers, the company added.

Kaimeite just started making electronic gases used in semiconductor production in January 2020 by building a new plant, aiming for it to become a professional research & development and manufacturing base with great influence in the industry. The purity of such gases greatly affects the quality of chips.
